![]() ![]() In XCOM 2, It basically makes it so that if you cant get a flank on an enemy, you should try to get as close to a flank as possible, because that will give you a "good angle" bonus, which would give you an aim bonus proportional to how close you got to flanking an opponent. ATLEAST, that's how it worked in Long War 1 and XCOM 1, I think. ![]() Then their aim of 65 with the cover bonus being lowered to 20 would mean that the AI would get 45 percent chance to hit. But with aiming angles on, if the aliens (or you) are at a 45 degree angle to their target, that 45 degree angle would take off 45 percent off of the targets cover bonus, turning a full cover bonus of 40 down to around 20, so half cover. So if you're behind full cover, and the aliens have a 65 aim, then their chance to hit is now down to 20%. Basically, it's an option that was turned on in Long War 1 that allowed you and the Ai to get higher or lower aim based on the angle that you're firing from. ![]()
